Could Chris Froome find himself in a different jersey before the end of the season?
According to Cyclingnews, a few teams around the peloton are checking in on the possibility. Cyclingnews reports that Froome is talking to other squads about a potential mid-season transfer. That would certainly be huge news should it happen, and you can see what could be driving a desire for a split, with Ineos currently juggling the ambitions of so many Grand Tour stars.
That said, it’s all far from official for now.
We’ll keep an eye on it.

| Report: Froome in mid-season transfer talks
Cyclingnews reports that four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome is talking to multiple teams about a possible mid-season transfer from Ineos.
Froome’s contract with the British squad reportedly runs out at the end of this season, but according to Cyclingnews, a handful of teams around the peloton have inquired about the possible of bringing him aboard sooner. As things stand at Ineos, Froome will have to vie with at least Egan Bernal and possibly Geraint Thomas for leadership at the upcoming Tour de France, so it’s not unreasonable to assume he would want out. Then again, it can’t hurt Froome to remind his employer that his skills would be highly valued elsewhere.
In any case, with Froome still under contract with Ineos, he would need to come to an agreement with not only a new team, but also his current one, should any transfer actually occur this season.
| Tour of Britain cancelled for 2020
Organizers have officially called off this year’s Tour of Britain, which had been planned to run from September 6 to 13, dates that clash with the rescheduled Tour de France.
“The decision has been taken in light of the ongoing situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, which makes continuing with the planning and organization of the 2020 race impractical,” organizers said in a statement, noting that the planned route would be used for the 2021 edition of the race instead.

In other unfortunate cancellation news, organizers of the Vargarda WestSweden Women’s WorldTour races – the team time trial and the subsequent one-day road race – have cancelled the 2020 editions of the events, which had been scheduled for August 8 and 9.
Organizers expect the pair of WorldTour races to return in August of 2021.
| Guillén: Vuelta without fans not “unfeasible”
Vuelta a España director Javier Guillén has addressed the possibility of a Vuelta without fans this year, saying that the idea was not “unfeasible, but it is not desirable,” according to Marca.
Guillén reportedly sees the idea of having a Vuelta without fans as preferable to none at all.
| Docker, Woods see tough times ahead for the peloton
In an interview for the Roadmap Episodes of the CyclingTips podcast, EF teammates Mitch Docker and Michael Woods gave their perspectives on what lies ahead this season for the pro racing world. Both EF riders see tough times ahead, with Docker expressing doubt that racing would happen at all in 2020.
“I actually don’t think we will race this year. It’s a scary thought,” the 33-year-old Australian said.
“A lot of teams are running on the backbone of their staff now. So logistically it would have been a hard task doing that with a whole functioning team. Going from the Tour de France, which we know takes more than half of the team, everyone organizing it, and then after there’s the Worlds, the Giro, the Vuelta, and then you’ve got all these other Classics. Logistically I don’t know if any team could do that.”
