More than three and a half months after the crash in the opening stage of the Tour of Poland that left him with multiple serious injuries, Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) is back on his bike.

The Dutch sprinter posted a photo of himself and his partner Delores Tougje out for a ride on Tuesday on social media.

As of Tuesday, it’s been three months and 19 days since stage 1 of the Tour of Poland, where Jakobsen crashed heavily into the barriers after being run off the road by Dylan Groenewegen (Jumbo-Visma). Jakobsen suffered major injuries, including numerous broken bones in his face, in the crash, and he spent two days in an induced coma.

Groenewegen has since received a nine-month suspension for the incident, and Deceuninck-Quick-Step is pursuing legal action against him.

Jakobsen spent an extended stretch in the hospital and underwent multiple surgeries in the aftermath of the crash. In the months since, he has been busy with physical therapy.

He still has another surgery on the horizon, and he is not expecting to get back to training in earnest until early next year, but as of Tuesday, he is back to riding his bike.
