Here’s hoping your week is off to as fine a start as Caleb Ewan’s.
Anyone watching the UAE Tour on Monday may have experienced a touch of déjà vu as the Australian speedster powered up the final climb of stage 2. For the second straight year, Ewan triumphed over a fine field to win a UAE Tour stage at Hatta Dam.
It’s only February and Ewan already has three WorldTour victories on the season – not a bad way to start the year.

| Ewan tops Bennett at Hatta Dam
Caleb Ewan won Monday’s second stage of the UAE Tour, sprinting to victory at Hatta Dam for the second straight year.
The Australian surged to the front in the final hundred meters on the steep gradient to grab the win and the race lead. Sam Bennett settled for second with Arnaud Démare in third.
| Milano-Sanremo among events under threat of cancellation due to coronavirus
As Italian authorities work to contain the spread of coronavirus with more than 200 cases already reported in the country, Milano-Sanremo is among the events at risk of cancellation.
“If the government stops sporting events in Milan and Lombardy, we will have to cancel it,” said Mauro Vegni, head of cycling at race organizer RCS Sport, according to Corriere della Serra. “It makes no sense to move the start 20 or 50 kilometers. The course has been the way it is for 110 years.”

Sunweb has announced its rosters for “Opening Weekend” in Belgium. Coryn Rivera and Floortje Mackaij are the marquee riders for Sunweb’s women’s squad at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, while Soren Kragh Andersen and Tiesj Benoot are set to lead the way for the men’s team.
Kragh Andersen and Cees Bol will be the featured riders at Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne. Michael Matthews is notably absent from Sunweb’s plans for either race.
| No time trial at the 2020 Critérium du Dauphiné
Organizers have unveiled the route for this year’s Critérium du Dauphiné, and the race will buck tradition by not featuring any time trials, either individual or for the teams, for the first time since 1947.
The eight-stage race, which will run from May 31 to June 7, will give the climbers plenty of chances to put their talents on display, with the final two stages tackling some particularly challenging Alpine terrain en route to back-to-back finishes in Megève.
