Dumoulin's management team denies rumors of potential split with Jumbo-Visma

After a report in L’Equipe suggested that Tom Dumoulin could be set to leave Jumbo-Visma for BikeExchange, the Dutchman’s management team reportedly denied the rumors, according to Wielerflits.

L’Equipe reports that Dumoulin and BikeExchange have been having serious conversations about a transfer, which could come before his current contract with Jumbo-Visma is up. Dumoulin, who won the Giro d’Italia and a world time trial title in 2017, is signed through the end of the 2022 season. According to L’Equipe, the impending arrival of Giant as bike sponsor at BikeExchange could be playing a role in the push to acquire Dumoulin.

Dumoulin rode on Giant bikes during his tenure at the Sunweb team; he has also left a team early once before already, having departed from Sunweb in 2019 to join Jumbo-Visma.

His management team, however, has denied the rumors on the same day the L’Equipe report was published.

Wielerflits used the Dutch word for “nonsense” to describe the way Dumoulin’s management team characterized the L’Equipe story. The Dutch outlet also reports that Jumbo-Visma said it did not know anything about the rumored interest of BikeExchange, and said, “We never respond to rumours, so not even now.”
