Dries Devenyns wins the 2020 Cadel’s Race from late attack
GEELONG, Australia (CT) – Dries Devenyns (Deceuninck-QuickStep) has taken out the 2020 men’s Cadel’s Race, beating Pavel Sivakov (Ineos) in a two-up sprint. For the third year in a row Daryl Impey (Mitchelton-Scott) finished third, leading in a four-rider chase group a few seconds behind the leading pair.
Devenyns was part of a 16-rider group that got away on a descent on the penultimate lap around Geelong. That lead group splintered when Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) attacked on the final time up Challambra Crescent.
Sivakov made a move from the lead group with around 5 km to go, prompting Devenyns to bridge across. The pair reached the finish together with the Belgian Devenyns taking out the sprint.
More to come …
