Deceuninck–Quick-Step’s massively successful season, painted on a frame
Specialized has announced the release of a frame celebrating Deceuninck–Quick-Step’s impressive 2019 season, incorporating all of the team’s wins into the design.
Based on the livery of this year’s team bike, the S-Works Tarmac Disc frameset celebrating each of Deceuninck–Quick-Step’s 2019 successes and riders. Limited to 200 individually-numbered framesets, the Deceuninck–Quick-Step LTD Tarmac Disc has a RRP of $5,500USD and is available for pre-order from Specialized retailers from the 17th of October.
By any measure, Deceuninck–Quick-Step have had an immense season, with 15 of the team’s roster notching up victories. The calibre of those wins have been impressive, too, with two monuments and seven Grand Tour stages among the 66 victories in total. Julian Alaphilippe’s 14 days in the maillot jaune at the Tour de France is one of the defining events of the 2019 season, which will also see the team finish the year as the number one ranked UCI team.
To honour Deceuninck–Quick-Step’s season, frameset no.1 was presented to the team at Il Lombardia. “The riders truly enjoyed finding their names and wins incorporated into the bike’s design,” said Patrick Lefevere, the team’s CEO. “This bike will hang in a place of honour at our Service Course in Belgium as a reminder of all we have achieved together and all we can achieve in the future.”
This has been the eleventh year that Specialized have sponsored the team, with 31 of Deceuninck–Quick-Step’s 2019 wins occurring on the Venge, 29 on the Tarmac Disc, five on the Shiv TT and one on the Roubaix. Nonetheless, as the most well-rounded model in the line-up, the Tarmac gets the nod for the limited edition.
The season concludes this week at the six-stage Tour of Guangxi. Let’s hope Specialized hold off on production of the remaining 199 framesets, just in case the team sneak another win or two in.
