Chloe Hosking sprints to Australian criterium title in a photo finish

BALLARAT, Australia (CT) – Chloe Hosking (Rally) has won her first national criterium title, sprinting to a narrow victory in Ballarat on Friday evening.

Commissaires shortened the evening’s final event from 40 laps to 30 over fears that fading light would make for unsafe conditions. Rain poured down for the first half of the race and the riders had wet roads to contend with throughout.

The race featured a number of exploratory attacks but nothing was able to stick. It ultimately came down to a bunch sprint where Hosking narrowly beat up-and-comer Ruby Roseman-Gannon and Gracie Elvin (Mitchelton-Scott) in a sprint that required a photo to split the leaders.

Roseman-Gannon took out the U23 classification ahead of Elizabeth Nuspan and Alexandra Martin-Wallace.

More to come …
