Brodie Chapman solos to victory at inaugural Race Torquay
TORQUAY, Australia (CT) – Brodie Chapman (FDJ) has taken an impressive solo victory at the inaugural Race Torquay after being part of a long-range breakaway.
Chapman attacked from the peloton on lap 5 of the eight-lap race around the Victorian Surf Coast town of Torquay and was soon on her own out front. Lauren Stephens (Tibco) bridged across on lap 7 leaving two out front, and then on the final lap, two more riders — Tayler Wiles (Trek-Segafredo) and Emily Herfoss (Roxsolt-Attaquer) — also bridged across.
With the peloton closing in behind, Chapman rode away from her companions with around a kilometre to go. She crossed the line with enough time to celebrate as Herfoss and Wiles followed her across the line.
More to come …
