Hello again, CyclingTips readers.
The first weekend of bona fide UCI-sanctioned international racing featuring WorldTour riders in months concluded in a way that may be somewhat familiar to anyone who read Friday’s Daily News Digest.
Two days later, Annemiek van Vleuten has won yet another bike race, making her four for four on the year. The reigning world road champ triumphed in the Durango-Durango Emakumeen Saria for her third victory in four days. Not a bad way to get back to racing.
Meanwhile, Bora-Hansgrohe capped off a dominant appearance at the Sibiu Cycling Tour with a dominant finale. Sunday offered a double feature of racing action, with a time trial followed by a sprinter-friendly finale—and Bora-Hansgrohe won both, as well as taking the top two steps on the final podium.

| Van Vleuten wins yet another bike race
Annemiek van Vleuten powered to yet another victory on Sunday, her third in four days, nabbing the Durango-Durango Emakumeen Saria in the Spanish Basque Country.
The world road champ surged clear on the final climb of the hilly one-day and hit the line solo to take the win, making her four for four in races she has started this year. Anna van der Breggen took runner-up honors, 18 seconds back, with Elisa Longo Borghini in third, 1:05 down.
“I cannot remember winning four-races in a row, actually five, because the world championships started it,” van Vleuten said.
“I don’t want to be arrogant; it is unbelievable for me to win these three races; I cannot have believed this would have happened.”

In other Annemiek van Vleuten news, the Dutchwoman told Wielerflits that she has not yet heard from Jumbo-Visma about joining the women’s team that the squad is reportedly putting together.
Cycling Opinions reported earlier this week that Jumbo-Visma is interested in bringing van Vleuten or Marianne Vos on to lead the team, specifically noting that the squad has already talked to Vos. Apparently, that’s not the case for van Vleuten, at least as of yet.

On the final day of the Sibiu Cycling Tour, Bora-Hansgrohe took two stage victories and the top two spots in the overall standings
On the heels of Pascal Ackermann’s sprint victory on Saturday’s stage 2, Gregor Mühlberger nabbed his second stage win of the race on Sunday’s stage 3a TT, taking over the race lead from teammate Patrick Konrad. Matteo Badilatti of Israel Start-Up Nation was second in the stage 3b TT just over a minute back with Konrad in third.
Ackermann then closed out the race with a win in the stage 3b sprint finale with teammate Michael Schwarzmann nabbing runner-up honors, while Eduard-Michael Grosu took third.
Mühlberger won the overall title with Konrad taking GC runner-up honors and Badilatti rounding out the final podium.
| Nibali names likely Giro rivals
Vincenzo Nibali has addressed the topic of his expected rivals at the upcoming Giro d’Italia, naming a handful of riders specifically that he expects to provide the biggest challenge in this year’s race.
“For the Maglia Rosa, I expect tough confrontations from contenders like [Richard] Carapaz, [Jakob] Fuglsang, and Simon Yates, and one who could be a big surprise, [Remco] Evenepoel,” Nibali said. “He’s strong, and he has approached cycling with personality. I like him. Only the road will tell how well he can perform during a three-week Grand Tour.”
Nibali is seeking his third career Giro title this year.
