Fans of Boels-Dolmans can finally breathe a sigh of relief. After months of searching, the powerhouse team has found a new sponsor.
HR services company SD Worx is coming aboard as a co-sponsor this season and will then be the new naming sponsor from 2021, with Boels and Dolmans set to exit at the end of this year. What’s more, the team’s arrangement with its new partner will run through 2024, quite a lengthy agreement in pro cycling terms.
It’s great news for a team whose future was clouded by uncertainty these past few months, and it’s sure to have a big impact on the racing for the foreseeable future, with the team’s strong roster now set to continue working together moving forward.

| Boels-Dolmans finds a new sponsor
The Boels-Dolmans team has announced that HR services company SD Worx is joining the team as a co-sponsor and will take over as naming sponsor in 2021 as Boels and Dolmans end their title sponsorship of the squad.
The new team will be known as SD Worx Cycling Team, and according to a statement, the company has already agreed to a partnership that runs through 2024.
| Amador officially joins Ineos
Confirming what has been expected for months, Andrey Amador finally joined Ineos officially on Wednesday, one day after Movistar agreed to release him. The Costa Rican had been embroiled in a contract dispute with the Spanish squad since last year.
“I have spent all of my sporting career with Movistar and I owe them a lot – but I felt now is the right time in my career to seek some new motivations,” Amador said in a statement.
| Outlook clouded for Dumoulin’s return
Tom Dumoulin, who had been expected to make a return to racing earlier this month after a long layoff due to knee issues dating back to midway through last year, is not feeling well. NOS reports that Dumoulin has been having stomach problems, and his return timetable is now unclear, with Jumbo-Visma still looking into what may be the problem.
“We are investigating everything. The medical staff is very busy with it,” sporting director Merijn Zeeman told NOS. “Until then we really put the brakes on it, so that we can really figure out the causes. As soon as we know, we will also make a new plan, and possibly a new competition schedule.”
| UCI updates rules on gravel in pro road races
The UCI has published a rules update that now includes protocols for the inclusion of gravel sections in pro road races.
“If an organizer wishes to include unpaved roads in an event, the UCI must be informed at the time of registering the event on the calendar,” reads the new language, which comes at a time when more and more road races are adding gravel sections to their routes.
“Furthermore, the organizer shall make every effort to ensure the safety of the riders, spectators and race followers and that the event runs smoothly in sporting terms and with regards to equitable treatment of participants.”
| Molano sprints to victory in Colombia
Sebastián Molano out-sprinted fellow Colombian Álvaro Hodeg to nab stage 2 of the Tour Colombia 2.1, with Itamar Einhorn taking third on the day.
Jonathan Caicedo, whose EF squad won the opening team time trial, continues to lead the race with four stages to go.
| Nakane wins Langkawi stage 6
Hideto Nakane nabbed stage 6 of the Tour de Langkawi ahead of Gleb Brussenskiy and Samuele Battistella.
Danilo Celano maintained his GC lead with two stages remaining.
