Hello again, CyclingTips readers,

As of Monday, the 2020 WorldTour season is now in the books.

Things came to a close a bit later than usual as racing continued into November in Spain after much of the cycling calendar was pushed later into the year due to a pandemic, but in the end, many of the biggest races went ahead after all thanks to a big effort from everyone involved.

As we kick off the new week, we’re still coming down from a fantastic Vuelta, while also paying attention to things going on around the pro peloton.

| Bahrain-McLaren extends nine, Cavendish remains unsigned

While teams often announce multiple extensions at once, Bahrain-McLaren went big on Sunday with a roll-out of nine rider extensions in a single announcement.

Sprinter Phil Bauhaus, time trial and breakaway talent Jan Tratnik, and Classics veteran Heinrich Haussler are among those who will stick with the team into 2021, as are Chun-Kai Feng, Mark Padun, Hermann Persteiner, Marcel Sieberg, and Stevie Williams.

Notably absent from the announcement was Mark Cavendish—for now, it remains unclear whether he will ride on as a pro in 2021.

| Alex Dowsett will ride on as a pro in 2021

Alex Dowsett has a team for 2021, apparently, although we still don’t know which team that might be.

The 32-year-old Briton, who picked up a big stage win at the Giro d’Italia last month, joined Israel Start-Up Nation this season after two years with Katusha-Alpecin, but he was still hunting for a new squad unvil very recently. Over the weekend, however, he announced that he had signed a two-year contract—although he has yet to reveal his new team.

| Chris Froome bids farewell to Ineos

Sunday marked Chris Froome’s final day of racing for the Ineos Grenadiers organization, formerly Team Sky, where he has spent more than a decade and enjoyed the biggest results of his career. He will ride for Israel Start-Up Nation next season.

“Obviously it’s been an emotional day, last day with the team, it’s been 11 years,” Froome told ITV on Sunday, a day that saw him finish his first Grand Tour since his 2019 crash at the Critérium du Dauphiné and that also saw him awarded the trophy for 2011 Vuelta following the disqualification of Juan José Cobo. “I’m excited about what lies ahead but it’s also time for me to reflect on all the highs and lows over the last 11 years.”

Over the course of those 11 years, Froome has won four Tours de France, two Vueltas, and a Giro, in addition to taking numerous stage wins and one-week race victories.
