Van Aert wins Belgian Sportsman of the Year award, is reportedly drawing interest from Ineos

The awards continue to roll in for Wout van Aert. After he was named the winner of the Kristallen Fiets (Crystal Bicycle) award for best Belgian cyclist of the year on Thursday, Van Aert was named Belgian Sportsman of the Year on Friday.

Van Aert is the second cyclist in as many years to take that honor, following up last year’s winner Remco Evenepoel.

Speaking of Van Aert, even with a year left on his contract with Jumbo-Visma, rumors are beginning to swirl about his 2022 destination. Wielerflits reports that the Ineos Grenadiers are interested in signing the Belgian star.

According to Wielerflits, Ineos and Van Aert’s management team met for the first time during the Tour de France, and talks remain ongoing about a possible deal. While Van Aert is said to be happy at Jumbo-Visma, as Wielerflits notes, the cost to retain him will have gone up following his stellar 2020 campaign.

Buchmann will reportedly race 2021 Giro, Kelderman eyes Tour start

Radsport-News reports that Bora-Hansgrohe is planning to send Emanuel Buchmann to the 2021 Giro d’Italia as team leader, while Wilco Kelderman, who will join the squad next year after four years at Sunweb, has told the In Het Wiel podcast that his current plan is “to work towards the Tour.”

Buchmann has made five Tour starts in his career, finishing fourth overall in 2019, but has never started the Giro. Kelderman, who rode to third at this year’s Giro, will get his 2021 campaign underway at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana before heading to the Itzulia Basque Country, the Amstel Gold Race, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, and the Tour de Romandie ahead of a potential start at the Tour de France.

Bora unveils kit for 2021

Speaking of Bora-Hansgrohe, the team has unveiled its 2021 kit – which takes style cues from the white jerseys the squad wore at this year’s Tour – with a rather unconventional video.

FDJ Nouvelle-Aquitaine Futuroscope reveals new kit

Also unveiling its 2021 look on Friday was FDJ Nouvelle-Aquitaine Futuroscope.

The team’s new kit will feature more white on the jersey than was the case for the 2020 kit, paired with darker shorts.

L39ION of LA unveils 2021 rosters

L39ION of LA revealed the rosters of its UCI Continental team and its USA Cycling Domestic Elite team on Friday.

Headliners coming aboard for the Continental squad’s first season include American speedster Ty Magner, who joins from Rally, and Australian climber Freddy Ovett, who comes over from the Israel Cycling Academy Continental squad. They join Alec Cowan, Angel Muñoz, Cory Williams, Eder Frayre, Hunter Grove, Lance Haidet, Sam Boardman, and Tyler Williams in the Continental team lineup.

Notable arrivals Kendall Ryan and Skylar Schneider and team founder Justin Williams will race for the Domestic Elite team, as will Ama Nsek, Avry Howes, Imeh Nsek, and Isaiah Oliver.

Novo Nordisk announces 2021 roster

Also announcing its full squad for next year was Novo Nordisk.

The 2021 squad will feature two newcomers in Logan Phippen and Lucas Dauge, who will race alongside Hamish Beadle, Oliver Behringer, Mehdi Benhamouda, Sam Brand, Stephen Clancy, Gerd de Keijzer, Joonas Henttala, Declan Irvine, Brian Kamstra, Peter Kusztor, David Lozano, Sam Munday, Andrea Peron, Charles Planet, and Umberto Poli.
