Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado, whose impressive run of results over the last few months have made her the revelation of this cyclocross season, has signed a lengthy contract extension with her Alpecin-Fenix team.

Alvarado will ride on with the Belgian outfit through February of 2024, the squad announced on Sunday, at the Hoogerheide World Cup.

A promising up-and-comer heading into this season after strong under-23 results, the 21-year-old Dutchwoman has collected a bevy of victories recently, winning multiple DVV Trophy and Superprestige series events, the Dutch national title, and the Koksijde World Cup.

Alvarado was neck-and-neck with Annemarie Worst in the overall World Cup standings headed into Sunday’s Hoogerheide finale. Alvarado ultimately settled for second in the series after finishing sixth on the day. Just the same, she will start next weekend’s ‘cross worlds among the top favorites for the victory.

With Alvarado signed for the next four years, Alpecin-Fenix can expect to continue racking up big results for several seasons to come – and yet Alvarado will still be just 25 years old when the contract is up.
