Alberto Dainese sprints to victory in Sun Tour opener
SHEPPARTON, Australia (CT) – Italian neo-pro Alberto Dainese (Sunweb) has taken out the opening stage of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour, sprinting to victory in the town of Shepparton in northern Victoria.
A day-long breakaway was caught inside the final 10 km of the stage as the teams of the sprinters readied for a bunch kick. Twenty-one-year-old Dainese took the victory ahead of Kaden Groves (Mitchelton-Scott) while Moreno Hofland (EF) finished in third place.

Dainese will wear the leader’s yellow jersey into Thursday’s stage 2 of the five-stage men’s race.
