Reimer (Cervelo) second behind JJ Haedo (Saxo Bank)
Juan José Haedo (Team Saxo Bank) won the bunch sprint in the second stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné. The 29-year-old Argentinean found a gap along the left edge of the road and took the victory over Cervélo TestTeam’s Martin Reimer (GER) and Grega Bole (Lampre-Farnese Vini).
After the peloton bridged the gap of the five man breakaway, the sprinter teams started to increase the speed. In the final kilometer, the Cervélo riders Rasch, Rollin, Denifl and Appollonio provided a great lead out for Reimer who did a great sprit finish coming in second behind Haedo (Saxo Bank).
“We knew before that there were faster sprinters in the bunch, nevettheless we wanted to give it a try and it is super nice that it worked out. I am really satisfied with the teamwork today, the riders had a lot of fun and it is great for our team spirit,” said a happy sports director Philippe Mauduit after the stage.
