Kirsten Wild takes Ronde van Gelderland
Kirsten Wild of Cervélo TestTeam (NED) won Ronde van Gelderland in the Netherlands this weekend. This 141 kilometres race in its’ 45th edition was ridden today without radio’s.
Cervélo controlled much of the tempo of today’s race. Rochelle Gilmore (AUS-Lotto Ladies Team) finished second to Wild in the sprint final and compatriot Kristy Brown (AUS-Australian National Team) took third.
“The Ronde van Gelderland was won by Kristen and I must say it was a perfect team performance,” said Egon van Kessel, sport director.
“We had a race plan that we followed today, and it was particularly important today because this race was ridden without race radios,” explained Kristen Wild, happy after her victory. “We had hoped for a sprint today, there was no wind and everything went according to plan. My teammates did a perfect job for me today. This win was very important for our morale!”
