Watch ‘From the Ground Up’: 3 Novice Cyclists to Attempt the Leadville 100
Today marks the launch of the From the Ground Up project, a six-part video series that documents novices on the road to the Leadville 100.
In “From the Ground Up,” two Pearl Izumi crew members — Ryan Petry and Alexey Vermeulen — take on the task of guiding three novice cyclists through the Leadville 100 MTB.
The Leadville 100 is one of the most iconic bike races in the West — the out-and-back course covers 104 miles and climbs above 12,500 feet.
The three novices Pearl Izumi selected were individuals whose “lives were positively impacted by the bike through COVID-19,” wrote the brand. Meet the riders: Roberta Nuñez, 30, an ICU nurse; Enzo Moscarella, 34, a fixie owner and artist; and Shawna Anderson, 47, a high school special ed teacher.
The novice riders trained for 5 months. And you can track them as the Leadville 100 MTB race starts this weekend on August 14.
“What happens when three ordinary people receive a new Canyon Exceed mountain bike and an entry for the epic Leadville 100-mile race?” teased Canyon. Let’s find out.
