US Forest Service to Offer Paid Wildland Firefighter Training for Women
The Apache-Sitegreaves National Forest will host an all-expenses-paid training for women to become Firefighter Type 2 certified — no experience necessary.
Are you looking for a career change? The U.S. Forest Service has you covered. The yearly Women in Wildfire Training program certifies women to become wildland firefighters and is now accepting applications. No experience is necessary.
The program runs from September 23 to 25 and from September 30 to October 2, 2022. Participants must attend both sessions. The hands-on training features simulated firefighting in the Apache-Sitegreaves National Forest in Arizona.
The deadline for application is August 21, 2022. The U.S. Forest Service will pay for time and travel — and provide the necessary equipment.
After completing the training, women will be certified as Firefighter Type 2s and receive information on formally applying for fire crews at USA Jobs.
The Apache-Sitegreaves National Forest straddles 2 million acres on the Arizona/New Mexico border.
