Upcoming Film ‘The Wall – Climb for Gold’ Documents Climbing’s Olympic Debut

‘The Wall – Climb for Gold’ follows Janja Garnbret, Shauna Coxsey, Brooke Raboutou, and Miho Nonaka for 2 full years as they prepared to compete at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Though spectators experienced climbing’s Olympic debut in the form of a brief televised segment, the competitors navigated a long and complex route to get there.

For the athletes highlighted in “The Wall,” qualifying for the Olympics required a grueling, multiyear cycle of training and competition. The pandemic threw an additional wrench into the process, postponing the games for a full year.

Windfall Films produced the adidas-backed film, and Nick Hardie (of “Formula 1: Drive to Survive“) directed.

The exact release date of “The Wall” is unknown as of October 2021, though we hope to see it on digital platforms in early 2022.
