‘Unbound Playground’: Non-Racer Takes On 200-Mile Gravel Race
If you love poetic depictions of grueling endurance sports, the latest documentary about UNBOUND 200 might cause some waterworks.
A new mini-documentary follows the affable “non-racer” Erwin Sikkens as he completes the UNBOUND 200. The now-famous trek through the Flint Hills in Kansas attracts professional riders from all over the world. But Sikkens wanted to show the perspective of the “normal people.”
Watching cyclists tear through stark, symmetrical landscapes backed by a swelling orchestra — it’s enough to make gravel riding downright romantic.
“Gravel riding is so much bigger and better and more beautiful than I would have thought it was,” Sikkens says.
