TransRockies Gravel Royale Registration Opens Today
Mark your calendar for the second annual TransRockies Gravel Royale and register today.
A month after the first ever TransRockies Gravel Royale concluded in late August, race organizers have rolled out the signup sheets for next year’s event.
This year’s race drew 200 cyclists from eight countries and 22 states and provinces. Through four stages, they explored the vast gravel network in the Kootenay Mountains in British Columbia, Canada. Two British Columbians took home top hardware from the 200-mile race — Rach McBride of Vancouver and Rob Britton of Victoria.
Registration for the 2023 edition opens now. The stage race will run Aug. 28-31, 2023, and the TransRockies team said it hopes to “bring out even more athletes to the starting line.”
You don’t have to be a pro to ride it. The 2022 edition was overall winner Britton’s first-ever stage race. McBride spoke to the atmosphere in camp and accommodations, which are both priorities for TransRockies as it seeks to draw more riders.
“This race is definitely unlike anything else I have experienced in gravel racing so far. The courses, the multiday aspect, and the tent camping — it really all has been a fantastic experience and so fun to be surrounded by the gravel community all week,” she said.

The TransRockies Race Series operates 10 events over 32 days yearly in the Western U.S. and Canada. It all started in 2002 when the first TransRockies Challenge led mountain bikers on a 7-day ride from Fernie, British Columbia, to Canmore, Alberta.
Various entry options and pricing are available at the TransRockies Gravel Royale website. Along with the 4-day ride, organizers also offer a 3-day e-bike event. Early-bird prices for the first 50 spots at the line in each race start at $999. Regular pricing is $1,299. Team rates are also available.
