This Knife Poster Has All the Blade Info You Could Ever Want

Knife steels, blade type, clip shapes, how to sharpen, and so much more — meet the knife poster to end all knife posters.

Have you ever watched or read a knife review and wondered, “What the heck are they talking about?” Clip point, sheepsfoot, Axis lock, and slipjoint — the terminology and industry jargon are nearly endless. And what in the world is the difference between a flat grind and a convex, let alone a hollow grind?

Thankfully, there’s someone out there with the answers to your questions. And for $24, you can show off that knowledge across your wall.

‘Modern Guide to Knives’ Poster

According to creator Ben Petersen (more on him below), the poster is the culmination of a 4-month brain dump —  “scribbling, crossing out, then doodling blade shapes … a sweet hot mess of everything I wish I’d known when I first got into the knife industry.”

This poster measures 24″ x 36″ and is made in the USA. What’s more, it’s printed with waterproof ink on waterproof paper, so it’s basically shower-proof (if you’re so inclined).

It has more than 100 panels of information, covering everything from lock stick to butterfly knives. It’s available now for $24.

Knafs Co. Knives

Meet Ben and Athena Petersen, the couple behind Knafs Co.

You might recognize Ben from his impressive stint with the Blade HQ YouTube channel. He’s since struck out on his own, forming this delightfully tongue-in-cheek knife brand.

But why “Knafs?” According to the site, “When mispronounced, ‘knives’ becomes ‘knifes.’ With a Southern accent, ‘knifes’ becomes ‘knafs.’ Why Knafs? Shucks, son. The web domain was only $12.99 and we’re cheap suckers!”

But despite its bargain monicker, Knafs’ workmanship isn’t cheap (including the Civivi Baby Banter, which we listed as one of our Best Pocket Knives of 2022).

Beyond this outstanding design, it seems that the Petersens are also accomplished graphic designers. Case in point, the aforementioned poster. It’s packed to the gills with information, from blade and tip styles to locking mechanisms, maintenance tips, and even pocket clip shapes.

Need a quick tip on sharpening or how to remove rust? It’s there, along with various handle materials and an explanation of the common terminology of pocket knife construction.

So, if you’re looking for a brand that combines know-how and a sense of humor, check out what Ben and Athena are cooking up over at Knafs Co. If the website is any indication, they’re off to a flying start.
