The Sounds of Bikepacking: Gritty Film Captures Ambient Adventure

Three friends venture out into the countryside of Yorkshire, England, to do one thing: embrace the ride no matter what. And with nary a word spoken, their trek captures a symphony of sound.

With barely any music, Will Evans and Sam Needham’s short film “Yorkshire Grit” focuses on the experience of bikepacking through sound. Watch three friends as they venture from the city of Leeds into England’s rural hills on an epic two-wheel adventure.

There’s coffee, sheep, birds, roads, trails, mud, grit, and camaraderie — all told by ear.

Yorkshire photographer and filmmaker Sam Needham lives by the motto “ride bikes, get lost.” We encourage you to do the same.
