The Most Serene ‘Training Camp’ Ever: Find Bliss, Vert on This Remote Island
A handful of Salomon running athletes spent 7 days on El Hierro in the Canary Islands, a trail running paradise destination.
Picture an island vacation. You can sit back, relax, and dip your toes into the ocean or sand. Oh, and you can also run. Run hard.
Salomon’s training camp at El Hierro, Canary Island, far off in the eastern Atlantic Ocean offers runners relaxation and bliss — but also tests of endurance with its steep vertical.
Salomon united seven world athletes for a 7-day camp on El Hierro, which offers 1,500 m of elevation gain in just 5 km to the island’s high point. The athletes tackled 210 km of running, 11,500 meters (nearly 38,000 feet) of elevation, an additional 170 km of biking, and more.
Lots of vert. Empty trails. Gorgeous weather. Trail running paradise.
In Salomon’s words, “This is how we like it.”
