Solo Stove Acquires Oru Kayak, ISLE, Chubbies, to Become ‘Solo Brands’
The maker of smokeless fire pits and fire stoves is branching out big time, acquiring three other brands. Solo is no longer alone.
Today, Solo Stove announced its recent acquisitions of Chubbies Shorts, Oru Kayak, and ISLE Paddleboards, diversifying its product line and creating a new company — Solo Brands. With a focus on “adventurous lifestyle products,” Solo’s PR team wrote, “Solo Brands’ vision is to build a better, customer-obsessed, community-oriented, direct-to-consumer experience.”
“We created Solo Brands with a vision for a different approach to direct-to-consumer business — one that’s not only better for the customer, but better for the community at-large,” said John Merris, CEO of Solo Brands.
And that community at-large is now even larger.
“Each of these brands is amazing in its own individual way — but together we’ll be able to collectively offer a better customer journey,” he said.
Meet the Solo Brands Family
Collectively, Solo Brands now offers fire pits, stoves, grills, men’s swim shorts and apparel, folding kayaks, paddleboards, and more. Together, it’s a great collection of camp- and watersport-focused gear.
In the press release, Solo Brands wrote that now as a multiple-entity brand, it wants to optimize the customer experience.
“Solo Brands is planning to leverage its multi-faceted direct-to-consumer experience to create synergies and optimize resources.”
It then rattled off things in the works like enhanced technologies, faster shipping, higher-quality manufacturing, and a “unified back-office.”
Translation: Solo is now a bigger, more diverse player in the outdoor brand market. Want to buy a paddleboard and kayak in the same place? Solo Brands has got it.
