This just in: The world already has plenty of gear. That’s what SENDY’s co-founders think, and they’re putting their money where their mouths are to prove it.
Freeride mountain biker Cam Zink and pro snowboarder Travis Rice started their online marketplace for used outdoor gear with one concept in mind.
So much gear already exists, and access to new equipment is not a problem for most athletes. Instead, the roadblock is this: Used but no longer wanted gear often can’t circulate properly.
Enter SENDY, the two athletes’ app-based platform that seeks to balance that formula.
“The problem is not that we don’t have enough things; it’s that those things are inefficiently distributed. We have the power to change this forever,” Zink said in a press release.
The vast majority of us will be familiar with the way SENDY works. You download the app on your iOS or Android device, then cruise the listings or post your equipment for sale. The “intuitive” app prioritizes easy navigation to simplify buying, selling, and even renting gear for retailers and individuals.
SENDY also offers users shipping solutions internally and features safeguards to protect the buyer and seller.
Plus, it helps users publicize their listings via social media. With one click, you can share your SENDY listings on Instagram.
Early focal categories on the app run the gamut: snowsports, cycling, hiking and camping, mountain biking, skating, surfing, climbing, fishing, moto, paddling, running, wakeboarding, “and more” are on board.
Rice said in the press release that he’s already listed and sold items on the platform, which launched December 28. Often, the release said, gear can sell within 24 hours among SENDY’s growing community that now consists of thousands of users.
“Every single piece of gear that finds a new home helps someone chase their dreams, drop into their bodies, and focus on what matters,” Rice said.
