Red Wing Throwbacks on Sale: Shop Limited-Edition ‘Same Old’ Classics

Boots both old and not-that-old make a comeback with Red Wing’s latest campaign of vintage-themed wares.

Starting today, Red Wing boots kicks off its fall fashion campaign — drawn entirely from products and ads made decades in the past. This marks the second global campaign leaning into the company’s long history, so Red Wing’s Out of Fashion line last year must have been successful.

With this year’s Same Old campaign, Red Wing re-releases pre-worn styles and memorabilia, like neon clocks and a collector’s embossed denim jacket. The 117-year-old shoe and apparel company will even publish montages of retro ads for TV and print.

Red Wing cites OfferUp data about the popularity of secondhand goods (82% of Americans buy or sell them) as the thrust behind the second annual campaign.

Secondhand shoppers and Red Wing fans can preview the Same Old collection between Sept. 13 and 20. Then the Shopify store goes live on Sept. 20, at 9 a.m. CT.

‘Same Old’ Highlights

Red Wing’s latest line of throwbacks includes both popular items from its past and rare-but-stylish products getting a reboot. (See what we did there?)

Customers can find the company’s original Irish Setter Sport Boots from the 1950s, which inspired its most popular Heritage boot, the 875 Classic Moc. There’s also the 4583, an 8-inch Moc boot that came from a collaboration with J. Crew in 2008.

Red Wing will also re-release the Heritage Huntsman, a 2015 exclusive that’s not nearly old enough to get a “vintage” label. But the boot’s release celebrated the company’s 110-year anniversary, so who’s complaining?

Vintage memorabilia released this fall will include old signs, vintage patches, and Red Wing pottery. Those looking for old-school apparel will find hats, embossed denim jackets, and a Pla-Jac varsity bomber jacket.

Red Wing will also hold an in-person event on Sept. 15, converting its New York store into a short-term museum of company history — no doubt with its new/old products on full display.
