Professional Family Shredding on ‘7 Steps to Paradise’ Run

What’s the crux of skiing down Glacier National Park’s most famous line? For this family, it’s doing so while caring for a 6-month-old baby.

Early this month, Cody Townsend started the fourth season of his ongoing YouTube series “The Fifty.”

The skier has now spent several years on his ongoing project to ski all “50 Classic Descents of North America.” That seminal book has provided plenty of material for powdery adventures, and the latest foray into Glacier National Park is no exception.

So, once Townsend and Elyse Saugstad find “a sitter” for their 6-month-old baby boy, they head out to the slopes for “7 Steps to Paradise,” Glacier’s most iconic line.

“It’s the first run most people ski when visiting Roger’s Pass for the first time,” the video description says. “So for Cody, the crux in this line isn’t on the mountain itself, but lies in the new son he and his professional skier wife have brought into the world and the challenges that motherhood and fatherhood bring to a couple of professional skiers.”
