Our Crusty Old Climbers Love This Gear, and It’s on Sale Now

Deals on climbing gear are scarce this season. But we found a few great sales on climbing equipment vetted by our crag veterans.

I’ve scanned my emails, pestered PR firms, and asked industry insiders. But they are thin! After weeks of searching and waiting for the rope to drop, I’ve landed on two worth spreading to your chalk-encrusted hands. Happy shopping and sending!

SCARPA Climbing Deals: 20% Off Sitewide (Excluding Ski Boots)

Italian brand SCARPA undoubtedly produces high-quality rock shoes, and getting the proven performers listed below at 20% off is a win. SCARPA goes big on climbing deals: all shoes are on sale, but below are our favorites.

Looking for support to stand on the smallest edges on your mega proj? The SCARPA Boostic excels on edgy overhanging routes that shred your tips and ego. These shoes can power off dime edges but remain sensitive, so you can still smear when required. Stack the deck in your favor with a shoe like the Boostic. Read our full review.

Quantix SF: $151 Instead of $189

Building a rock shoe that can do most things relatively well has to be difficult. The “performance all-arounder” is the one category where I think “not possible, too many compromises.” To thread the needle between high performance and comfort, and again do it with abilities like sensitivity and edging power, is such a tall order.

But the SCARPA Quantix SF filled the order, according to climbing industry stalwart and longtime tester Matt Samet. He even applauded the brand’s ability to jab tiny screw-ins on his home training board, yet provide the support necessary for long pitches of hard vertical climbing on granite. They even foot jammed well.

Mago: $167 Instead of $209

If you or a loved one pulls plastic or rages on the steeps outdoors, SCARPA’s third generation of the Mago can fit the bill. Our climbing editor and a long-time tester both agreed that the Mago is a high-performance weapon in the fight against gravity when the objective leans hard.

Sensitive and powerful for pulling the hips in, the Mago delivers when gymnastic antics are necessary for progress. Toeing plastic jibs, pulling on stalactites, or scumming a volume is the realm for this shoe.

2022 Scarpa Phantom 6000 Boots - Review

Here’s a killer deal for the hedonistic alpinists and ice scalers. The new SCARPA Phantom 6000 continues the boots’ lauded legacy.

Our globetrotting tester put a rugged 25 days in the boot on a techy route on Mt. Huntington and the West Buttress of Denali. His conclusion: the comfort and efficiency of a single boot that punches well above its weight in warmth.
