North America vs. the World: New Red Bull ‘Knockout’ Format Will Crown Enduro Mountain Bike Champ
‘Hot’ laps, enduro bike battles, and more — don’t miss this weekend’s ‘Knockout’ enduro event.
The Red Bull Tennessee Knockout Enduro bike competition returns to Sequatchie, Tennessee, from August 13 to 15, 2021. The “Knockout” competition will operate on a knockout, battle-style format over 2 days of racing.
However, what’s special is that this year, top pros from around the world will compete on U.S. soil. The Red Bull TKO is the fifth and final round in the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship.
The Red Bull Tennessee Knockout welcomes world pros and amateurs alike. Not only do amateurs compete against each other, but the top 30 ranked amateur finishers will move on to the day 2 races to compete against prequalified pros.
Out of 20 pro riders and 400 amateur riders, about 50 Tennesseans will compete this year. U.S. riders to watch include Cody Webb, Ryder LeBlond, Max Gerston, Ryan Sipes, and Tennessee native Jordan Ashburn.
Update: the results are in. This year’s Red Bull TKO winners were Great Britain’s Billy Bolt in first place, Germany’s Manuel Lettenbichler, and Canada rider Trystan Hart.
TKO: Women Enduro Riders
Also new for 2021, there will be both amateur and pro classes for women. The amateur women will compete in the first race on Saturday, which will determine the amateur results.
Any amateur women riders that finish within the 2-hour, 30-minute time limit and within the top 200 overall will be eligible to move onto the TKO race two.
The pro women will compete in the championship-deciding TKO race two. There will be a $2,000 purse for the pro women.
