‘Mylo’ Highlights Moving Story of Navajo Photographer, Navajo Community

Chris Burkard’s latest film, ‘Mylo,’ turns the lens on lauded photographer Mylo Fowler. And it’s a moving tribute to one man’s quest to make a difference for his people through art, spirit, and passion.

It feels almost like an indecency to sum up a film you should just watch. The scope of ‘Mylo’ covers both a personal journey and an ethos of helping. And Navajo photographer Mylo Fowler is at the center of it.

Fowler’s inherent talent behind the lens transfers into his ability to help his people. And through selling his photography, he combatted a conservation crisis for his people when the Gold King Mine spill poisoned the San Juan River, a main water source for the Navajo Nation.

Fowler funded a warehouse worth of drinking water through his photography sales. And he’s outfitted more than 250 homes on the reservation with solar power kits, ensuring sustainable power for the future.

The story is moving, but the cinematography matches. As it should. The film was directed by international powerhouse Chris Burkard. And Fowler’s work heavily contributes.

For a little more than 16 minutes, viewers are whisked to not only another landscape, but another heart. This Chris Burkard x Sony Alpha film is worth your time. Get on it.
