Mo Wilson’s Alleged Killer Sold Car Before Leaving Town

U.S. Marshals say Kaitlin Marie Armstrong sold her Jeep Grand Cherokee at a car lot in Austin, Texas. The reward for information leading to her arrest now stands at over $20,000.

The U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force today reported that “Mo” Wilson’s suspected murderer sold her SUV to a CarMax in Austin the day before she flew out of the city.

On May 17, Austin police charged Armstrong with first-degree murder in the May 11 death of Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson. Investigators interviewed Armstrong days after the incident, but let her go. She then flew out of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on May 14.

Now, investigators found she sold her car at a local CarMax dealership the day before her flight.

The task force traced the black Jeep Grand Cherokee that was registered to Armstrong to the south Austin dealership, where she sold it on May 13 for $12,200, it said in a statement. Investigators did not specify whether it was the exact vehicle from the neighbor’s security footage captured the night of the shooting.

Armstrong’s last known whereabouts are at Newark Liberty International Airport on May 18, a day after authorities issued a warrant for her arrest. Officials did not find any flights registered in her name there.

Private investigators recently gathered information that suggested Armstrong may be using an assumed name and could be receiving help as she continues to evade authorities. The U.S. Marshals service listed no known aliases for Armstrong as of this writing.

The murder investigation now enters its second month, and the reward for information leading to Armstrong’s arrest grows. In addition to the U.S. Marshals’ $5,000 reward, the Capital Area Crime Stoppers offers $1,000. An anonymous donor is also contributing $15,000, bringing the total to $21,000.

Armstrong is white, stands 5 feet 8 inches, and weighs approximately 125 pounds. She has light brown long, curly hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen on surveillance video at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport wearing a blue denim jacket, black shirt with a pink design on the chest, white jeans, black and white tennis shoes, a black COVID mask, and a possible yoga mat carrier on her shoulders.

Officials currently consider Armstrong armed and dangerous.

The U.S. Marshals urge anyone with information on her whereabouts to call the agency at 1-800-336-0102 or submit a tip using the USMS Tips app. Alternatively, you can contact the Capital Area Crime Stoppers at 1-800-893-8477.
