Mathews Streamlines the V3X With New Sights & Compact Quivers

The Mathews V3X and compatible accessories represent 3 decades of innovation and new geometry.

The Mathews V3X hunting bow balances its long riser to axle-to-axle ratio with accessories that aim to improve its overall feel and performance. The bow introduces low-profile sights, new cams, and an in-the-field repair system. Mathews even updated a line of quivers to work with the new shape and improve on weight and felt vibration.

Just last year, Mathews debuted the V3 bow, which had the longest riser to axle-to-axle length in the brand’s history. They achieved this not through longer risers, but by new design techniques allowed by limb pockets.

“This year we set out to create a completely refined hunting system from top to bottom that measured success with an accessorized bow,” said Mark Hayes, Mathews’ design engineering manager, in a release.

“The result is a full setup rig that is streamlined, better balanced, and quieter than ever before. The V3X paired with our purpose-built accessory line is the most advanced hunting system to date.”

30 Year of Mathews Innovation

In its 30-year history, Mathews Archery has introduced several bow technologies, starting with the Solocam technology in 1992. Since then, the brand has continued to innovate and upgrade its designs, pushing its own limits of performance and quality. And all of its bows are designed and manufactured in Sparta, Wisconsin.

Last year, the brand brought the V3 to market with a new achievement for stability in a compact frame, and it became a bestseller. Then it launched a new Prima, a bow designed specifically for women that added speed while dropping weight over its predecessors, making it one of the brand’s fastest bows on a pound-for-pound scale.

And now, the V3X debut proves the brand is constantly tinkering with its designs and aiming for new standards in its hunting bows.

V3X Accessories

Mathews introduces Bridge-Lock Sight Technology in the V3X. It allows for a dovetail sight to sit through the bow’s riser without an external mounting bracket. This makes the bow’s profile more streamlined and potentially more balanced. The sight has first, second, and third axis adjustments.

The Bridge-Lock Fixed 5-pin Sight ($350) is a result of a collaboration with Axcel. The brand said the sight “allows archers to micro-adjust elevation, windage and each individual .019” pin with the highest level of precision.”

The Stay Afield System (S.A.S) ($40) uses modified cams and a fluorescent orange servicing cable that lets hunters remove or repair their strings and cables in the field without a bow press.

It’s a lightweight and small system in case the need for an emergency overhaul arises. As the name implies, backcountry hunters can stay in the field and in the hunt, even if things go awry.

And lastly, the new V3X adds a new option to carry your arrows in a quiver. The LowPro Quiver series is made to fit the V3X tight and comes in fixed six-arrow ($200) or detachable five-arrow ($250) configurations.

Mathews claims that “when used with a Mathews Genuine QAD Integrate MX Rest and a Bridge-Lock compatible sight, these new quivers bring arrows over 56% closer to the riser further enhancing balance and minimizing vibration.”

These accessories were crafted to work with the V3X as a balanced hunting system, with Mathews testing its balance and accuracy standards on a fully loaded bow.
