Lazer Coyote KinetiCore Now Available: Lowers the Cost of Rotational Protection
Rotational protection and a suite of handy, trail-ready features at a $100 price point? Color us intrigued.
MIPS-equipped helmets are awesome, but they come at a cost. Enter the Coyote KinetiCore, a fresh MTB offering from Lazer that includes built-in rotational protection for $110. Lazer displayed the helmet at 2022’s EUROBIKE expo, but it’s only just now reaching American markets.
The Coyote KinetiCore scored 5/5 stars from Virginia Tech’s helmet rating lab. The impartial scientists at Virginia Tech measure a helmet’s ability to reduce both linear acceleration and rotational velocity, so a five-star rating is nothing to sneeze at.
Another benefit of the KinetiCore design? It’s relatively light. Lazer claims the 340g Coyote KinetiCore is 3% lighter than its (now unavailable) Lazer Coyote MIPS M CE.
Lazer Coyote KinetiCore: Other Features
Lazer manages to cram a host of other desirable features into its modestly priced helmet. There’s an integrated adjustable visor and a no-slip grip to keep goggles in place.
A magnetic buckle is always a win, and Lazer’s Universal LED (not included) mounts to the back of the helmet for increased visibility. One especially cool feature is the recesses in the helmet interior that make room for sunglasses arms. Say goodbye, pressure points.
The optional fleece Winter Kit is also a nice touch for riders blessed enough to shred year-round. Finally, Lazer’s dial system provides easy-to-reach fit adjustment on the fly.
The Lazer Coyote KinetiCore comes in small, medium, large, and extra-large, in a range of pleasing matte colors. As we said, it seems to be a steal at $110, but if you’re looking for more ventilation and accessory mounts, take a peek at Lazer’s next model up, the Jackal KinetiCore.
