Lava Livestream: Watch Drone Flyover of Iceland Volcano

Live today: Join 66°North for a once-in-a-lifetime, monumental volcanic event.

66°North will broadcast a livestream of Iceland’s volcano. You know, the one that hasn’t erupted in over 800 years — but is erupting now.

The volcano, located on Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula, is less than 80 km from 66°North’s headquarters. (That’s close, but thankfully not too close when it comes to volcanic events.) After all, Iceland is home to one of the largest active volcanic regions on Earth.

“Drone pilot extraordinaire Bjorn Steinbekk [will fly] his drone over the eruption site while broadcasting live, giving us a completely unique perspective of this amazing scenario,” wrote 66°North.

At 21:00 GMT (5 p.m. EDT), you can tune in to watch the staggering volcanic mass erupt and spew lava everywhere. We’re talking lava, magma, tephra, crust, and steam. Seriously, what better way to spend a Wednesday evening?
