Cold Digits No More: Eddie Bauer Launches Artificially Intelligent Heated Gloves

Meet the smartest pair of self-heating, self-regulating gloves on the market, powered by ‘clim8’ AI technology.

Looking for a truly innovative outdoor accessory this winter? Look no further than Eddie Bauer’s clim8 Guide Pro Smart Heated Gloves. Designed to monitor and adjust temperature in real time, these gloves push the envelope for heated apparel.

Eddie Bauer partnered with clim8 to create the self-regulating gloves. Bluetooth technology pairs with the clim8 app, which collects feedback to learn and improve warmth settings based on conditions.

The glove’s strategically placed heating zones have built-in sensors. These sensors monitor your movement as well as external and internal environments, and then adjust the temperature to your desired setting.

There are other heated gloves out there that offer Bluetooth connectivity or different temperature settings. But the self-regulating ability of Eddie Bauer’s new AI gloves is extremely unique.

Eddie Bauer clim8 Glove Love: Warmth in 3 Styles

The AI-assisted Eddie Bauer clim8 Gloves aren’t a one-size, one-style fits all deal. The company is releasing the technology in three different styles: the Guide Pro Heated Smart Glove, the Lite Glove, and the Mitten.

Each mitten/glove has a built-in clim8 module with an LED indicator, a pouch, and a connecting socket for the battery to charge. They come with two interchangeable, rechargeable 7.4V batteries and a charger. All of which is covered for 2 years by the clim8 manufacturer’s warranty.

Temperature Range

These heated gloves have a temperature range of 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit) to 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit). It’s excellent for people who may need just a little extra warmth, or for people with Raynaud’s disease, who may need all the warmth they can get.

To get started, you’ll need to download the clim8 app, where you can customize the Eddie Bauer clim8 gloves to your specific preferences. Then pair your device with the gloves/mittens, set up your personal “thermal profile,” select your activity, and get out there.

As you move around, the clim8 AI system will auto-activate heating based on your profile’s settings and the environment. And your hands will stay comfortable and toasty all day long. Or at least, until the battery dies.

clim8 Gloves Battery Life

The Li-ion battery life claims to last an average of 8 hours in a mid-temperature range before needing a recharge. It takes 4-4.5 hours for two batteries to fully charge up.

If you’re not impressed yet, then you may be when it comes to price. These AI auto-regulating warming gloves are on par with other gloves, that are half as techy. Depending on which Eddie Bauer clim8 gloves or mittens you get, MSRP ranges from $249-299 USD.

Comparable Heated Gloves

Heated gloves are nothing new. Instead of buying a heavier-weight glove/mitten, or popping in some hand warmers, rechargeable heated gloves are available from a range of brands.

Other popular heated gloves on the market include the Black Diamond Solano Heated Gloves ($400), battery-powered with a 100% waterproof breathable GORE-TEX insert and PrimaLoft insulation.

At the high end of the market, you’ve got gloves like the Seirus Hellfire Mittens ($475) with multiple heat settings and a whopping 280 g of insulation, followed closely by the Outdoor Research Lucent Heated Sensor Gloves ($359).

Then you’ve got more mid-priced options like the Outdoor Research Gripper Heated Sensor Gloves ($199), Weston Heated Gloves ($120) which are rechargeable and offer three heat settings, and the Savior Heat Rechargeable Gloves ($139-154). Savior Heat’s Gloves come with adjustable temperature controls.

The problem with many of these gloves is the same, though. There’s either only one heat level, or you have to manually change the heat setting yourself. With the Eddie Bauer clim8 gloves’ AI technology, that’s not necessary. It adjusts your gloves’ settings based on your personal preference and your surrounding environs.

This technology could change the (winter) game. And potentially, not just in gloves.
