Bouldering Is Scary: Watch 40-Foot ‘Roadkill’ V15 in Action

The film crew at Mellow was recently back in Val Bavona, Switzerland, to record a climb that was anything but mellow.

Shawn Raboutou’s “Roadkill” (V15/8C) is a big boulder problem with big moves. Sparse but distinct features create just enough for a desperate line and a nauseatingly tall climb.

Watch Dave Graham and Clem Lechaptois try to tame the beast, Mellow-style. Expect EDM, gymnastic climbing sequences, and attempt after attempt by two mega-strong climbers pushed to the limit of their abilities.

The essential beta for the highball: pull the hardest moves, and then transfer out of the steep section at 18-20 feet. Then climb the 20-25-foot slab top out.

Some call bouldering “pebble wrestling.” On the contrary, “Roadkill” is a behemoth.
