Addicted to Gear? Backcountry Launches Loyalty Rewards to Fuel Your Fix

Backcountry launches Expedition Perks, a three-tiered loyalty rewards program. Climbing to a higher membership level unlocks more benefits.

The three tiers offer escalating rewards, like points per dollar spent, birthday coupon savings, and for the top two tiers, access to member exclusives and access to Backcountry’s Gearhead Service. All levels of Expedition Perks receive double points on Built By Backcountry items.

Members will earn points toward perks by shopping online or at its retail locations. Rewards can be spent at Backcountry or its sister site Competitive Cyclist.

3 Tiers of Rewards

Members start at the Trailhead tier by signing up, and the rewards grow once they advance to the next tiers.

Trailhead
This starting tier is free to join and awards five points per $1 spent (on eligible items).

Switchback (from $200/year) and Summit ($1,000/year) both award 10 points per dollar spent and offer member exclusives. The birthday coupons bump up to 15% off and 20% off, respectively. Additionally, Summit members get free returns. Summit members will get free shipping on all orders, as well.

Gearhead Service

The top two tiers, Switchback and Summit, also unlock Gearhead Service. This is a service offered to help you narrow down what gear you need to best suit you on your next outdoor pursuit.

Summit grants members exclusive access to a Personal Gearhead, someone who’s an expert user in their pursuits who can give customized advice, free of charge.
