2022 Can-Am Defender Limited: 6×6 Adventure Machine With Heat and AC
Backroads gearheads, meet the climate-controlled, maxed-out Can-Am 2022 Defender 6×6 Limited and MAX Lone Star CAB side-by-sides vehicles.
In preparation for those long spring and summer days ahead, Can-Am Off-Road has launched its 2022 Defender line of off-road adventure utility vehicles. With the fresh generation of side-by-sides, the brand expands on two of its most popular recent workhorses: the Defender 6×6 and the Lone Star.
Its latest, most high-end take on the rugged machines focuses on climate-controlled comfort so hardworking folks can rumble down burly terrain all day without exposure to extreme temperatures.
Here’s what you need to know.
2022 Can-Am Defender 6×6 Limited
Can-Am says its new Defender 6×6 Limited side-by-side vehicle is the most capable SSV it’s ever built — a go-to for hunters, landowners, and ranchers that need a reliable, fully loaded machine.
The 2022 rendition comes with an enclosed cab and automatic climate control to keep extreme conditions at bay. If you think you’ve seen climate control in early versions of the 6×6, you’re not alone. But before 2022, heating and ventilation were aftermarket options only. We asked the folks at Can-Am to clarify. Here’s what they told us:
Prior to this launch, a customer could work with their local dealer to a la carte order a hard-CAB and a heating + venting system for their Defender 6×6, but with the new 6×6 Limited model air conditioning will be included as well.
The big takeaway here is that you can get a full HVAC system, with an enclosed cab, direct from the factory.
As for power, the 6×6 led the industry with its 3,000-pound towing capacity when Can-Am introduced it in 2020, and that hasn’t changed. To complement that oomph, Can-Am fits each 6×6 SSV with the largest cargo box on the market, and it features a hydraulic power tilt.
The Defender 6×6 Limited starts at $30,399 MSRP.

2022 Can-Am Defender MAX Lone Star CAB
Can-Am first unveiled its Defender Lone Star Edition back in 2018 as a premium utility-meets-recreation option. Now, thanks to the addition of the company’s comprehensive climate control, it claims the Lone Star’s fully enclosed cabin is more luxurious than ever before.
Four full-size doors with sealed window mechanisms — electric in front and roll-down in the back — preserve the internal temperatures according to driver spec and seal out drafts and dust. And Can-Am takes recreation as seriously as ever with the new MAX Lone Star SSV; a JL Audio Roof system now comes standard.
The Defender MAX Lone Star CAB starts at $33,199 MSRP.
