Wolf Tooth adds Oval & 3-Bolt T-Type Chainrings (and a Complete Compatibility Guide)

Wolf Tooth recently announced their first batch of SRAM Transmission T-Type compatible Drop Stop chainrings that fit the latest 8-bolt SRAM DUB Wide cranksets. Now, they’re adding 8-Bolt Oval Drop Stop B chainrings that fit the new T-Type Flat Top MTB chains for riders that like oval chainrings, and they’re working on 3-Bolt versions of all these for riders who want to use their existing SRAM or compatible cranks.

Perhaps best of all, they’ve made a comprehensive guide to which T-Type chainrings fit which cranks and how to choose the right option, whether it’s the newer or older SRAM MTB cranks or a 3rd party crankset that used SRAM’s 3-bolt mounting standard.

New T-Type Oval Chainrings

Like the round ones that launched in June, the inital batch of Oval Drop Stop B T-Type chainrings fit SRAM’s latest DUB Wide cranksets that come with Transmission groups and use the 8-bolt mounting standard.

Additionally, the updated Drop Stop B tooth profile has slightly thinner wide teeth and deeper valleys to accomodate the Flattop MTB chain’s larger rollers and narrower distance between outer plates. They’re also still compatible with standard SRAM Eagle chains, plus 12-speed chains from KMC, Connex, Wipperman, and Campagnolo. (They’re even compatible all 9/10/11 speed chains, too, if you’re rockin’ it old school)

They’re available in 32 and 34 tooth counts with the 3mm offset for XO and GX Transmission groups, and a 0mm offset is coming soon for XX1 SL groups, all of which maintain the desired 55mm chainline. MSRP is $75-85.

T-Type Compatible 3-Bolt Drop Stop B Chainrings, too!

Got an older SRAM crankset that you’d like to keep and run with the new Transmission cassette and derailleur? Now you can, and there’ll be even more options in August.

Until now, Wolf Tooth’s 3-bolt direct mount chainrings used their Drop Stop A or ST tooth profiles, the former working with SRAM Eagle groups and the latter specifically for Shimano’s latest 12-speed MTB groups.

Now, they’ve added 3-Bolt Drop Stop B versions that’ll work with the Flattop MTB chains (and, thus, Transmission), too. The initial batch comes in 3mm offsets, and 0mm offsets are coming in August. Check that compatibility guide to see which ones you’ll need.

They’ve also updated their CAMO chainrings to work with Flattop MTB chains, too, giving you all the options for updating your existing cranksets to work with the new SRAM Transmission.
