North Shore Billet Announces Canada-Made Talon Crankset
North Shore Billet, a small components brand producing in Whistler, has added a crankset to its line-up. The Talon cranks are designed with gravity in mind; Enduro, Downhill, Freeride and Dirt Jumping. Machined from a 7075 T6 aluminum, these cranks have passed and exceeded EFBE-TRI-TEST Gravity standards, following extensive testing underneath the likes of Yoann Barelli and Ben Wallace.

The North Shore Billet Crankset will set you back $420 USD. It is a three-piece design, running a 30mm crank spindle with a chainring mount of the Cinch flavor and an aluminum pre-load collar.
There are two spindle lengths to choose from, for 73mm and 83mm BB shells, with 155mm, 160mm, 165mm and 170mm lengths available at launch. Claimed weights are as follows:
- 630g – 155mm w/ 73mm spindle
- 654g – 160mm w/ 73mm spindle
- 660g – 165mm w/ 73mm spindle
- 670g – 170mm w/ 73mm spindle
For enduro bikes with a 73mm BB, the spindle length is 133.5mm and the Q-Factor is 171.4mm. For DH bikes with an 83mm BB, the spindle length is 148.5mm and the Q-Factor is 186.4mm. SuperBoost bikes will need to run a 0mm offset chainring to ensure compatibility.
North Shore Billet also produce a threaded bottom bracket for pairing with the Talon crankset, as well as a bottom bracket tool for installation; all are machined at the brand’s Whistler workshop. That said, any BB tool such as the Park Tool BBT-79 will be sufficient for installation.
The North Shore Billet Talon Crankset is available now, retailing at $420 USD. That does not include a chainring and bottom bracket. Word is, NSB will soon have packages available at 20% off these items available to pre-order customers only. The crankset is sold with a one-year no questions asked warranty policy against manufacturing defects, backed up with a lifetime crash replacement programme.
