All-new Strive:ON enduro, Torque:ON & Grand Canyon fill out Canyon eMTB line

Canyon is dropping in with their first full-on e-enduro ebike – this all-new Strive:ON. And it’s backing it up at either end of the spectrum with a much more capable Torque:ON carbon gravity ebike that turns any hill into a bikepark, and a barebones alloy hardtail Grand Canyon:ON that can equally serve as a first eMTB taste or get built up as an everyday SUV commuter ebike.

The big news is really the Bosch-powered Strive:ON built from the ground-up to race the eEWS, now eEDR electric enduro series, with a light, tough, and forgiving carbon frame with the most sought-after powertrain on the World Cup and super fast battery swaps.

When Fabien Barel sat us down to explain what the Strive:ON project was trying to achieve, it was clear this was built to be a dedicated enduro e-bike. Lightweight, adapted race-ready gravity geometry, the same stiff-in-the-right-places/forgiving-in-others carbon that makes the regular Strive an all-day race bike, and the best-in-class Bosch CX motor with its optional Race version delivering the extra-long pedal-assist torque that sets it apart in e-enduro racing. Pick from 625Wh or 750Wh hot-swappable Bosch batteries, and act fast if you want to snap up the very limited hundred LTD models with the Race line motor.

But hot on its heels with a bit more travel, a bit stiffer frame, and a Shimano EP8 motor for riders who prefer to self-shuttle gravity trails all-day, the upgraded Torque:ON really isn’t very far behind. The big news here is that the geometry of the carbon Torque:ON has completely evolved from its alloy origins, taking gravity-racing inspiration from the new Strive:ON which was developed at the same time. This new Torque:ON in carbon creates a longer, more stable bike that also climbs better than ever.

And yes, it’s in carbon now, making for a stiffer chassis that you can throw down World Cup DH tracks like a downhill bike, then pedal back to the top after the lifts have closed for one more run. Interestingly the carbon frame was less about shedding weight as it was about improving descending performance. In fact, with the bigger range 720Wh & 900Wh internal (but swappable) battery options, this carbon gravity ebike will likely be a bit heavier than the alloy ones that only spec smaller batteries.

Canyon Grand Canyon:ON alloy hardtail ebike

While the Strive:ON & Torque:ON are all about ultra-high-performance ebiking, the Grand Canyon:ON is just an ebike. And that’s what kinda makes it great.

It’s not really meant for the same type of riders considering a gravity or enduro-racing eMTB, but just riders who want to ride any surface with the added boost of an ebike.

But it still gets a Bosch CX motor and various options for battery range and build spec, plus all the rack, fender, and even kickstand mounts you could need.

The new aluminum Canyon Grand Canyon:ON hardtail ebike is available starting today in four models from the 3000€ Grand Canyon:ON 7 with a smaller 625Wh battery, up to this top 4300€ Grand Canyon:ON 9 model geared more for SUV city riding with a bigger 750Wh battery and Bosch+Magura ABS braking.
